Yes. On Koshex you can ask for your digital gold to be delivered as gold coins, and the grams delivered come off your digital balance. The provider holding your gold makes and sends the coin, charges for making and delivering it, and sets a minimum: 0.5 gram with SafeGold and 1 gram with MMTC-PAMP, per their own pages.

## Key takeaways

- Physical delivery of digital gold is available on Koshex, and the grams delivered come off your digital balance.
- SafeGold's own FAQ sets a 0.5 gram minimum for delivery, and MMTC-PAMP's own page sets 1 gram.
- You pay a making and delivery charge to confirm the request, and neither provider publishes a rupee figure for it.
- You can take part of your holding as a coin and keep the rest as digital gold.
- Selling instead puts money in your bank account, and a sale gain is long-term only after more than 24 months.

Yes. Digital gold is gold you buy online in grams, which a provider stores for you in a vault. On Koshex you can ask for some or all of it to be delivered as physical gold coins. The grams you take come off your digital balance. The provider holding your gold makes the coin and sends it to you. It charges for making and delivering the coin, and it sets a minimum quantity. Each provider sets its own delivery terms.

## Can I convert digital gold to physical gold?

Yes, physical delivery is available on Koshex, and you can take a part of your gold while the rest stays digital.

The word "convert" is slightly misleading. You place a delivery request. The provider (the company that holds the gold on your behalf) makes the coin, and your digital balance goes down by the same number of grams. Koshex works with two providers, SafeGold and MMTC-PAMP, and the rules that matter most come from whichever of them holds your gold.

Both providers let you take only part of a holding. SafeGold's own FAQ says you can ask for all or part of your holding. MMTC-PAMP's own page says the same. The coin sizes you can pick are the options the app offers.

## What does it cost to convert digital gold to physical gold?

You pay a making charge and a delivery charge on top of the gold itself, set by the provider and different for each coin.

Making charge, also called a minting charge, is the cost of turning gold into a coin. Delivery charge is the cost of getting the coin to your door. Both providers say each coin has its own making charge, based on the weight and design of the coin. Both also say you confirm the request by paying the making and delivery charge.

What the charge covers differs a little between the two. Assay certification means the coin's purity has been tested and certified.

| | SafeGold | MMTC-PAMP |
| --- | --- | --- |
| What it is called | A minting charge, also called the making and delivery charge | Making charges and delivery charges |
| What it covers, in the provider's own words | Minting, packaging, insurance, assay certification and delivery | Making: manufacturing the coin, including packing it in tamper-proof card packaging, which MMTC-PAMP calls Certicards. Delivery: the logistics cost of getting high-value gold safely to you |
| Rupee figure published | No | No |

Neither provider's page gives a rupee figure for a coin. The charge is part of the request you confirm.

Digital gold is not regulated by SEBI. In November 2025 SEBI said such products are "neither notified as securities nor regulated as commodity derivatives" and that its investor-protection mechanisms do not apply to them. Gold ETFs and gold mutual funds are SEBI-regulated.

## What is the minimum for delivery with SafeGold and MMTC-PAMP?

The minimum is 0.5 gram with SafeGold and 1 gram with MMTC-PAMP, going by each provider's own pages.

SafeGold's own FAQ says you can request delivery from 0.5 gram, and in multiples of that. MMTC-PAMP's own page says the minimum quantity that can be redeemed is 1 gram, and multiples of it. If your balance is below the minimum of the provider holding it, you cannot ask for a coin yet.

Here is how it works with a balance of 3.2 grams. Say you have built it up over two years and want a coin to give at a wedding. You ask for a 2 gram coin, which is a multiple of both providers' minimums. Your balance drops to 1.2 grams of digital gold. The coin sizes on offer depend on the app, and the making and delivery charge is extra. This is an illustration of the arithmetic, not a suggestion of how much to take.

## How do you convert digital gold to physical gold?

You choose delivery, pick a coin, check the making and delivery charge, confirm your address and pay, and the coin arrives by courier.

The steps are much the same on any app. In order:

1. Choose to take delivery of some of your gold.
2. Pick a coin from the options shown. The weight must fit the provider's minimum and your balance.
3. Look at the making and delivery charge for that coin.
4. Confirm your delivery address.
5. Pay the charge to confirm the request.
6. The grams in the coin come off your digital balance, and a logistics provider delivers the coin.

A few details come from the providers' own pages.

- SafeGold's own FAQ says it delivers through a logistics provider it arranges, to serviceable PIN codes (the postal codes it can reach). Delivery takes 7 to 10 days, depending on your location.
- SafeGold's own FAQ says that once you place a delivery request you have to accept the delivery, and it cannot be made at a later date. A government ID is mandatory for identity verification when you collect a delivery of 5 grams or more.
- MMTC-PAMP's own page says the coin is delivered within 14 working days from the day you place the order. It does not deliver gold coins outside India.

On any app the steps are the same; the terms, the minimum and the timing belong to the provider holding the gold.

## Is the coin as pure as your digital gold?

SafeGold's own FAQ says it delivers assay certified coins in tamper-evident packaging, and SafeGold's gold on Koshex is 24 karat, 99.5% pure.

Tamper-evident packaging is packaging that shows if it has been opened. MMTC-PAMP's own page says its making charge includes packing the coin in tamper-proof Certicards.

Hallmarking, BIS's certificate of how much gold a piece contains, is compulsory for jewellery in listed districts but not for coins, though some coins carry a BIS mark under a separate scheme. BIS is the Bureau of Indian Standards. Our guide to [BIS 916 gold](https://koshex.com/blog/bis-916-gold-what-is-it-and-how-to-buy-it) explains how hallmarks work.

## Should you sell instead of taking delivery?

Selling turns your gold into money in your bank account with no coin to store, while delivery gives you the metal and costs making and delivery charges.

Both are open to you. On Koshex you can sell your digital gold at any time. Our guide to [selling digital gold step by step](https://koshex.com/blog/selling-digital-gold-step-by-step-guide) walks through the sale.

A gain on digital gold held for more than 24 months is a long-term gain and is taxed at 12.5%. If you held it for 24 months or less, the gain is taxed at your slab rate. Add the 4% cess, an extra charge on the tax itself. No surcharge is assumed here, which means total income of ₹50 lakh or less. The tax guide, [how to save tax on digital gold](https://koshex.com/blog/how-can-i-save-tax-on-digital-gold), has the detail.

One more tax point. The rule that lets you swap gold for an Electronic Gold Receipt (a SEBI-regulated gold receipt traded on stock exchanges) and back without tax covers only those SEBI-regulated receipts, not digital gold.
