How It All Started
Meet Komal
In 2019, Komal realised his personal finances were not on the right track.
Being a product and tech enthusiast, he spent a lot of time looking for solutions, but could not find one that met his needs. Eventually, he ended up dealing with multiple logins and maintaining a personal sheet on the cloud.
In time, he decided this was not his cup of tea and hired an expert to make finance decisions for him.
Meanwhile, he took short courses in finance to understand the fundamentals of investing, and wrote a few scripts to help himself make investment decisions. Discussions with colleagues, friends, and family on their personal finances made him see the need to democratise access to sophisticated investment solutions.

Meet Akash
After 8+ years in consumer fintech (wealthtech, lending, and payments) and investment banking (UBS, Rothschild), Akash was still looking for a money tool to manage every penny seamlessly.
Coming from a finance background, his interest in money management kept him hooked to reading about, understanding, and implementing ideas related to personal finance.
Soon, he began to garner interest from friends and acquaintances, who used to come to him to understand their finances better.
His love for gathering data and tinkering with it on spreadsheets snowballed into a need to build a product for himself. A product that would be reliable, affordable, and available to customers on demand for real-time movement of money.

Close friends and former colleagues Komal and Akash used to catch up at Cafe Coffee Day on Bangalore Cunningham Road, and were often the last people to leave. Personal finance was a topic that came up often, and both wanted a common solution a tool to optimise every penny.
One day, Akash told Komal how he was building a personal money management dashboard to handle finances seamlessly, with some help from his younger brother. Komal, who was having difficulty finding an accessible and affordable financial advisor, wanted to build a much superior solution that offered the kind of experience never seen before. Initially, the duo set out to build something for themselves, but conversations with friends, family, and acquaintances made them realise their solution could address the needs of millions. And so Koshex was formed.
Koshex is an amalgamation of Kosh in Hindi (an Indian language) which means a repository of wealth, like a gullak for a child, and ex for exponential growth.
